Introduction

Major of Energy & Applied Chemistry

Energy is the most important resource in modern industrial society. Due to the depletion of fossil-based raw materials and global warming, the need and importance of low-carbon, eco-friendly, renewable energy is growing ever more evident. The Major of Energy & Applied Chemistry focuses on new renewable energy centering on solar energy and secondary batteries as storage devices based on traditional chemical technology. In order to develop experts in convergence that have acquired such extensive expert knowledge, (1) a lab-oriented undergraduate curriculum and (2) balanced theory and practical education on the synthesis and analysis of organic and inorganic materials, materials for solar batteries and secondary batteries, device manufacturing, and systems will be employed to reach the goal of nurturing future engineers with improved on-site adaptive abilities.

Major of Optical Technology & Energy Convergence

The Major of Optical Technology & Energy Convergence studies complex engineering that combines the advanced technologies of electronics, photonics and energy based on optical science and technology. The applications of optical science and technology are continuously expanding from everyday items such as cameras, scanners and photocopiers to high tech industries such as optical communication, semiconductor manufacturing, fine machining, material processing and precise measurements for environmental monitoring and medical diagnostics. Furthermore, optical technology is conversing to energy technology such as solar panels and laser fusion research. Technological innovations in modern industries are taking place very fast, and the industries want experts who can handle such innovations. To meet their expectations, our major operates a field-centered curriculum that fosters competent optical engineers.
