In April 2025, the 'CheongDae Newspaper' and the 'CheongDae Times', which represented the media in the school, announced the integrated operation as one, marking a new beginning. The two existing media have been operated from different perspectives, roles, and languages. However, due to the continued decline in the number of student reporters, it will be integrated into a single organization called the 'CheongDae Times Newspaper' in consideration of the sustainability of the student press in the future. This integration is not just a restructuring, but a change to create a more powerful and influential university press. The CheongDae Academic History will be operated under an operation plan tailored to the new era while taking advantage of the existing academic records.

 

History of the CheongDae Newspaper: The Representative Journal of 80 Years of Tradition

Founded on July 12, 1954, the Cheong Dae Newspaper is a representative in-school media that has represented the voices of Cheong ju University students over the past 70 years. The Chengdae Newspaper was founded as a four-page CheongDae academic journal based on Prime Minister Jeong An, who said, "Look at it correctly and think it outstanding." The Chengdae Newspaper, considered one of the most traditional university newspapers in the country, has played a leading role in fair reporting and student opinion promotion in the past. In the past, it had played a role by publishing newspapers regularly, but from July 22, 2020, it published articles online on the website of the Cheong Dae Press Agency and operated in line with the changes of the times and the development of technology.

The CheongDae Newspaper, consisting of 'Broadway Myeon', 'Social Myeon', 'Planning Myeon', and 'Culture Myeon', was not composed of reporters alone, but was the result of a joint work composed by the local community and our university classmates. The reporter covers various affairs of our university and the community, and our university classmates write various opinions.

 

History of the CheongDae Times: English-language newspapers that fostered a global sense

Founded on November 6, 1977, the CheongDae Times is an English newspaper in the school that is differentiated from the CheongDae Newspaper, published in Korean, and has played a role in promoting English learning for CheongJu University students in line with globalization.

The CheongDae Times has played a role in informing classmates by publishing various events related to our university twice a semester in English articles. In the past, overseas news was also published in English newspapers to deliver information to classmates, but now our university is focusing on the content of the articles.

On the operation and vision of the CheongDae Times newspaper, Ahn Ho-seok, director of the CheongDae Times newspaper, was interviewed this year.

 

Q1. Please introduce yourself.

A1. I'm Ahn Ho-seok, director of the CheongDae Times (Department of English and Literature, 4). I'm currently majoring in English and literature and double majoring in trade. I'll be the director in 2025

 

Q2. What kind of duties did you perform at Cheong Dae Times student insurance company in the past?

I worked as a regular at the CheongDae Times. As a regular, I interviewed and researched what was going on inside CheongJu University to write articles. Our CheongDae Times does not have a separate department. However, I was in charge of the task whenever I was given tasks such as writing Instagram and Everytime posts through meetings.

 

Q3. Please briefly explain the 'CheongDae Times Newspaper' integrated this time.

This time, the CheongDae Times and the CheongDae Newspaper have been integrated. This means that the department that writes Korean articles has disappeared and has been integrated into a department that only writes English. However, unlike in the past, our CheongDae Times has now been integrated with the CheongDae Newspaper, so we plan to write and publish English as well as Korean. Therefore, it can be considered that the work of the CheongDae Newspaper and the CheongDae Times is combined. We are planning to write and publish Korean articles on parts that were previously difficult to read in English, so anyone can read them.

 

Q4. Please say a word as the director of the student insurance company at Cheong Ju University.
